Medicare Open Enrollment is here! Here’s What You Need to Do If You’re Enrolling for the First Time, and How HRI Can Help!

Today marks the start of 2025’s Medicare Open Enrollment (October 15 – December 7), and if you’re getting ready to enroll for the first time, we’re here to help! Whether you’re turning 65 or newly eligible, this is your opportunity to review your options and choose coverage that fits your health and budget needs.

1. Understand Your Medicare Options

Medicare has different parts that cover specific services:

  • Part A – Hospital coverage

  • Part B – Doctor visits, outpatient care, and preventive services

  • Part C (Medicare Advantage) – All-in-one plans offered by private insurers that include Part A, Part B, and often Part D

  • Part D – Prescription drug coverage

If you’re enrolling for the first time, you’ll decide whether to go with Original Medicare (Parts A & B) or a Medicare Advantage plan (Part C).

2. Gather Your Information

Before enrolling, make sure you have:
📄 Your Social Security number
💊 A list of your current prescriptions
🏥 Names of your preferred doctors and pharmacies
💵 An idea of your monthly budget for premiums and out-of-pocket costs

Having these details ready makes it easier to compare plans and find the right fit.

3. Compare Plans Carefully

Even if you think one plan looks good, take time to compare! Look at:

  • Monthly premiums and deductibles

  • Prescription coverage (especially for your current medications)

  • Network restrictions (which doctors and hospitals are covered)

  • Extra benefits (like dental, vision, or fitness perks)

We’ll help you compare plans side-by-side, and understand your options.

4. Enroll Before December 7

Don’t wait! The Medicare Open Enrollment Period ends December 7, 2025, and changes take effect on January 1, 2026. Enrolling early gives you time to ask questions, avoid last-minute stress, and start the new year with peace of mind.
